Gabby’s “Go For It” – October

Every month I will do a different do it yourself (DIY) project that will be either a success or an epic fail for your enjoyment. For, the month of October thoughts of Halloween strike everyone’s mind. Candy and decorations are the main focus for Halloween, so why not combine candy and decorations?  Today it will be a DIY candy corn mason jar project that I found on Pinterest it  takes about 10 minutes to make. It contains balloons and mason jars and costs around $10 if you make two mason jars.  The only things I used during this project were some yellow, white, and orange balloons along with two medium size mason jars, but you can make as many as you want.

To start off, I took the lids off of the jars, then I  took the white balloon and tried to fit the balloon over the top of the jar. Which  I quickly  realized that it was much easier to just flip the jar over and  pull the balloon over the jar which was a lot more successful I must say!

For my next balloon, I used orange which I then placed over the jar and a little bit overlapping the white balloon because I didn’t want to have any uncovered space. I noticed during this step that there were some unwanted creases, so to solve that issue I just gently tugged on the orange balloon on both sides to make them less noticeable.

Finally I put the yellow balloon on the jar, just like the orange one, but the only thing I noticed is that I had either too much balloon overlapping the orange causing the bottom part of the mason jar to show or not enough balloon to get to the orange section. Other than that there was smooth sailing ahead for this DIY project! Now I thought about what to do with these jars before I made them. Even after I made them I still had  no clue what to use them for. The top ideas that I liked were the idea to make the jar into a cosmetic/pencil holder, put little lights in them and set them on a table as an indoor decoration, or use it as an exterior decoration and place it on your front steps.

Not that I don’t love Pinterest but most things I’ve found on Pinterest usually take more than the average teen’s skill, but occasionally they pan out and you get a nice product out of it like this one. In my opinion, this project was definitely worth the time and effort. I would give this project a 4 out of 5 star rating simply because it was easy and not time consuming at all. Overall this project was very successful and I would highly recommend it to all crafty people.
