Netflix is my best friend

Mia Martel, staff writer

Seeing my folder with my homework that’s due tomorrow morning and then seeing my iPad with Netflix ready to go with “Arrow”. Watching Netflix is something almost every student can relate to. There are hundreds of movies and shows you could watch, the possibilities are endless. But sometimes I can get ahead of myself, and before I realize it, I have binge watched all of the High School Musical movies, and my whole day is gone.

Since we just had February break, Netflix became my best friend. We spent pretty much every day of vacation sitting on my couch watching an endless amount of “Arrow” episodes. None of my other friends would be okay with laying down all day doing absolutely nothing. When I’m with Netflix, it’s like I have no worries. All of my stress is gone and I can completely relax. But when Netflix leaves, all of my stress comes back. That’s why I like to spend as much time as I can with Netflix. Sometimes I’ll get texts from friends asking if they want to hang out or do something, but at this point I treat Netflix as a priority, and I just want to spend my time with Netflix, so I will just make up an excuse like I don’t feel well or I have other plans because I actually do already have other plans with Netflix.

Sometimes Netflix isn’t all that great. Netflix does let me down once and a while with boring TV series and movies. When that happens, it’s kind of disappointing because I always have high hopes for everything I start watching. The other thing about Netflix that’s kind of disappointing is all of the waiting. It takes forever for a new season to come on Netflix. I don’t know why Netflix likes to wait, but that’s definitely something that needs to be fixed.

Although Netflix does make you wait it still has everything there for you, like the whole “Gossip Girl” and “90210” series when you just want to binge watch something. Or all of the ‘classic movies’ like “Clueless” and “Mean Girls”. I especially love how original Netflix is. With series like Orange is the New Black and Fuller House (which I’ve already watched the first season) what’s not to love about Netflix55? it’s the best friend everyone would want. It even sends notifications if it doesn’t think you’re watching anymore. That’s how much Netflix cares. Even with all of Netflix’s flaws, I will probably never get rid of it, which isn’t the best thing ever for my school work.
