Captain Lucas Rhoy lead the Tigers to victory with three TDs in the 28-13 victory Friday Night at Waterhouse field.

Rhoy scored his three TDs in the first, second, and third quarters. He rushed for 259 yards on 30 carries as Biddeford came away with the win, evening their record in the standings (2-2).

“I feel really good,” said Rhoy.  “Coach Curit worked with the lineman this week and that really helped me out.”

The Tigers, a steady rushing machine, used a sneak halfback pass play in the second quarter when Rhoy passed the ball for 30 yards to quarterback Joey Curit.

“It was fun,” said Rhoy. “We have been working on that for quite a while so today [friday night] was the first chance we had to throw it.”

Rhoy’s 30 yard pass wasn’t the only crucial pass of the night in the second quarter quarterback Joey Curit hit running back Jeremy Lugiano in stride for a ten yard TD pass giving the Tigers a 13-6 lead.

“It was great,” said Lugiano. “It was my first varsity touchdown and in a game that close it was extra special.”

Later in the second quarter, Rhoy scored his second touchdown of the game giving the Tigers a 19-13 lead with a good field goal the Tigers were up 22-13 going into halftime. Head Coach Brian Curit knew all along that he had a special player in Rhoy.

“Lucas is a beast,” said Curit. “ Lucas is one of the better players in the entire state of Maine. I have touted him since the beginning, he is a special player.”

Rhoy didn’t stop his scoring spree at two touchdowns, with 4:41 left in the third quarter Rhoy scored his third TD of the game. This game wasn’t all offense as the Tigers were without junior inside linebacker Austin Dutremble, would need to find someone to fill the whole of one of the team’s best defensive players.

“We lost Austin Dutremble, certainly one of our better defensive players and that hurts,” said Curit. “In this violent game you always have to get people ready to play.”

The first half of the game the Tigers gave up 13 points to the Westbrook Blue Blazes, but in the second half the Tigers held the Blue Blazes scoreless securing the win.

“I think we kind of woke up [in the second half] we went back to really playing assignment football, I think that made a big difference,” Curit said.

For the Tigers, the win didn’t just mean they evened their record to (2-2) they also gave themselves the chance to ring the victory bell 28 times Friday night, one for each point they scored.

“The bell is always great to ring,” said Lugiano. “ That’s what we work so hard for everyday.”

Moving forward the Tigers will face the York Wildcats (1-3) next Friday in York. Even though York is (1-3) the Tigers won’t count their opponent out.

“We can’t underestimate them,” said Lugiano. “If we cut down our mistakes from tonight we will be very hard to beat.”
