For this month’s DIY (do it yourself), I will be doing a temporary tattoo that supposedly lasts longer and uses sharpies instead of the normal sticky film that you put on your skin. All the materials I used were baby powder, hairspray, and sharpies, which costed less than $10.

The first thing I did was decide what I was going to sharpie on myself and where I was going to put it. I decided on a medium size feather on my foot. The first step in doing the tattoo is to put the baby powder on to the area you are putting the tattoo on. In my case, my foot, and then I took a black sharpie and drew a feather (which took more skill than I realized). After that, I sprayed hairspray on it and let it dry for about 20-30 seconds. Then I put another layer of the baby powder on my foot to finish off the project. Did I also mention the fact that I did this around 11:00 at night, which I would not recommend! It’s extremely hard to concentrate while thinking about how much sleep I was losing the later I stayed up. Anyways it was totally worth the lack of sleep. Minus my terrible drawing, I think it came out pretty good.

While in the process of drawing the tattoo on my skin, I’m not going to lie here, I was a bit paranoid I was going to mess up. In my defense, I’m probably the only person who can’t actually draw a decent stick figure, or color inside the lines of a coloring book. I think the hardest part of the whole DIY, for me, was just deciding what was going to be something that I could draw that wouldn’t look terrible. Since I knew it was going to be there for a while, I decided to pick the feather which ended up looking like a three-year-old colored on my foot!

Some things that I noticed that made this project easy was the fact that it didn’t require a lot of materials. I think overall that it was a success and it looks good on my foot! If you make a mess, like I do all the time, my suggestion to you is to do this in a place where your parents won’t care if you make a mess or not. I did it in my bathroom in case you were wondering.

If I had to give it an overall rating I would give it an 8 out of 10 because it was really easy,  but made a little bit of a mess when I used the baby powder. Compared to my previous DIYs, this was probably one of the least messy to do. It also didn’t take up much of my time to do which is a major plus in my mind. My final thoughts consist of how creative and fun this DIY was to do and I would definitely do this again at possibly a birthday party or event with a lot of people.
