The Roar

Marissa Heffernan, Managing Editor

Before I was a writer, I was a reader. I went through books like most kids go through candy. From there, the segway into writing my own stories came naturally. Now, at 18 years old, I'm going on to major in Journalism and Environmental Science after my time here at The Roar. To me, journalism is about awareness and truth, educating people about what they need to know, whether they want to know or not. It’s about exposing hidden problems and confronting issues to make the world a better place. That’s why I entered the field of journalism, and why I plan to make it my career. Outside of reading and writing, I love being in the woods, rock-climbing, and having discussions with my friends on everything from women’s rights to the pros and cons of having wings.
