Alex v The World- Travel Edition
Nov 10, 2015
This month as the weather gets colder and people start to get ready to go on vacations, we will be discussing our most important item for guys and girls traveling on vacation.
For Guys:
An electronic device:
When traveling, everybody knows you need something to do. Having your cell phone, laptop, or tablet is a key aspect of surviving any trip. Whether you drive, fly, or take the train having a device is the only way to survive. An electronic device can be life or death on a long trip with movies, music, and games to keep you from wanting to yell at the screaming baby or kick the seat that keeps reclining into your legs. Trust me when I say this is a must number one on any traveler’s pack list.
Paige’s Response:
I could not imagine a trip without my cellular device in hand. Whether I’m listening to music on the flight or scrolling through my latest Instagram feed, it is glued by my side. Even if you don’t have a device, THERE IS NO REASON to yell at screaming babies Alex. They cannot help it, and if you have ever traveled at a younger age, there is a 99.9% chance that you too were a screaming, kicking baby, annoying every passenger near you.
Alex’s Response:
While I don’t normally find myself yelling at babies on flights I have seen it happen. My point on the matter is we all need the distraction from all things we hate about traveling. I have heard those horror stories of people having to be restrained on flights because of fights over the lamest stuff. In my eyes, the only way to separate yourself from the fury of travel is the distraction of electronics. Now, Paige, you may have a problem because having your device in hand is sure to cause some cramping in your hands, but don’t worry, I’m sure your friendly flight attendant can help you right out.
Paige’s Second Response:
Unlike you, I do not need the flight attendant’s help. I am sure I will be able to function just fine without it. While I do agree that having a distraction on a flight is great, I don’t agree with being glued to the phone the whole time the plane is in the air. There are other ways to block out noises on the flight. Some examples would be to take a nap, read a book, or even bring earplugs. Being on the phone the whole time will not only make your eyes hurt, but will give you headaches too, which will result in an even more painful flight.
For Girls:
Favorite beauty products:
Whether it be your favorite Maybelline mascara, or your favorite perfume from Victoria’s Secret, do not forget to bring your beauty essentials. Sure, people might argue with me that you won’t have enough time for that, or you’ll be swimming anyways, but I know that that is silly and that my makeup bag follows me wherever I go. What if I meet people while I’m down there? Wouldn’t I want to look all dolled up? Or what if I want to take selfies? Why wouldn’t I want to look my best? I know I definitely would! I like to be prepared for these moments no matter how unlikely they are.
Alex’s Response:
Wait, they designed bags that can follow people!!!! That’s amazing! I would really like one of these magical bags Paige. Hook a brother up. Girls don’t need makeup 24/7 vacations are for fun don’t worry about your looks all the time. Do you go on these vacations just to meet guys? Don’t use that as an excuse to bring an over obsessive amount of makeup, and don’t even get me started on selfies. Selfies are so annoying. Why do you need to constantly be taking pictures of yourselves and other people? In the end it’s your choice how much makeup you wear or bring. I know that I won’t be wearing any.
Paige’s Response:
Alex, although you do not wear makeup, I, on the other hand, do. I’m not saying that you can’t have fun on vacation if you bring a makeup bag. I personally don’t go on vacation to meet guys, considering most of my vacations are with family only, but you never know when you’ll make a new friend by the pool. There might be people who do go on vacation to meet people, and hey, that’s fine too. I’m not saying obsess over makeup, but if it were me and I was breaking out, then I’d want to be prepared to cover it up. I’m not saying to only take selfies. I take a bunch of family photos while I’m away because my family is all about preserving the moment and keeping memories. Sure, I might take a couple selfies for social media because I’m more tan than I usually am. So it’s your choice on whether or not you pack a makeup bag, or even just a mascara, but my main advice is take photos. There are so many memories that I wish I would’ve captured in a photo, but didn’t.
Alex’s Second Response:
Honestly, Paige, it brings up the fact that you can have fun without worrying about pictures. Personally, I believe that pictures can be good in a limited amount. We all don’t have to be Paige missing the big moments of our trips because she was hiding behind a camera. If you are with a group of people, my advice is send the pictures to each other. Have one person, for each day, be in charge of taking the group pictures that way you don’t miss out on all of the best moments.
While all of you are reading this, we will probably be finishing up final touches on what we need for our own vacation. These things will definitely be in our carry-on for this trip, whether we need them or not. Florida, here we come!
