Gabby’s go for it – December
Dec 15, 2015
Hi Everyone! I’m Gabby and every month I do a new DIY (do it yourself) project, and for this month I made some little Christmas tree brownies. All together the cost of this DIY was about 10-15 dollars and took about 15 minutes after baking and waiting for the brownies to cool off. The brownies are perfect for Christmas parties or just to have around for the holidays. It’s fairly simple, but it’s still pretty possible to mess up if you don’t focus on directions. The things needed are one box of brownie mix and whatever is necessary to make those brownies (which in my case was an egg, some vegetable oil, and water) small candy canes, green frosting bag, Christmas sprinkles, and star sprinkles.
To be perfectly honest here, I’m a terrible cook, and whenever I bake anything I make a huge mess and/or forget certain ingredients. So while I was at school, my wonderful mother made brownies for my DIY so that when I got home I could decorate them. Now I realize very quickly that I should’ve told my mom to put some wax paper down on the pan before she put the brownie mix in the pan. The reason being that when I went to take the brownies out to cut them, they all stuck to the pan. To make a long story short, instead of getting 12-18 triangle brownies I got about 6- 8. On the bright side, I got to eat the messed up ones, so it wasn’t really all that bad (other than the fact that I had to go to basketball practice after I ate all those brownies).
After the brownies were all cut and cooled off, I started to put pieces of candy cane into the bottom of the triangles to make them look like little trees. Next, I frosted them with green icing, which I was pleasantly surprised about how yummy it was because usually colored frosting tastes gross and nasty. Lastly, I put the sprinkles on the brownies, and they looked really adorable! I think these are better than regular brownies because there’s not only more sugar, but they’re also super creative too.
Overall, I think these brownies are a really cute idea, but I really should’ve read all the directions in order to have more of them. I think that being able to express creativity through decorating food is a great way to make others happy (because let’s be honest here, who doesn’t love chocolate and christmas?) For a score I would probably give it 6 out of 10 rating because it tasted good and looked good, but they just got stuck in the pan which was sad and disappointing. To end things on a light note, I hope everyone that tries this is successful, and I hope everyone has a happy holiday.
