Biddeford High School’s Theater students spent countless hours over the past two weeks preparing to perform “Thoroughly Modern Millie”
The students who are participating in the performance of “Thoroughly Modern Millie” have been working tirelessly for two week to learn their parts. These students have gone above and beyond what anyone would expect from a high school drama performance.
From 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm every night after school, the Theater students have rehearsed their play. Rehearsing their parts isn’t the only thing that these already gifted students had to do in preparation of this performance; they learned to tap dance. While this doesn’t seem like it would be a difficult task, learning more than one dance while also memorizing lines and other aspects of their parts in an overwhelming amount of work for these students to put into their performance. Along with the dancing, there must also be music.
Members of the pit crew have also been practicing hard to get everything looking and sounding like a work of art. It is the job of the pit crew to get the timing of music right, get everything in the background ready to go, and keep things moving smoothly; a cumbersome task that will require every bit of practice that the Theater students have put into their play.
We, the Roar, are proud to support our Theater students and their dedication to perfection. Each and every person who has put their heart and soul into making this a fantastic performance deserves the praise and respect of their peers. Performing alone is not easy, but to put hours and hours of work for weeks into one play is incredible. It is easy to dismiss what others are doing when it is not the most popular or common thing, but hard work, determination, and dedication should never go unnoticed.
The upcoming performance will be a delightful treat, both for the audience and all of the members of the crew that have worked so hard to put on a marvelous play. Every person who has worked hard to make this play great is the star in their own way, and deserves a round of applause; break a leg.
