Hi Everyone! I’m Gabby and every month I do a different DIY (do it yourself) project, and for this month, I’m doing a vanilla pumpkin spice sugar scrub. All together it took me about 10 minutes to make, and it was very user friendly. For an eight ounce container I used ¼ of a cup of coconut oil, one cup of granulated sugar, two teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice, and two teaspoons of vanilla extract.

To be perfectly honest, I wasn’t sure how much eight ounces really was, so I put the coconut oil in a little bowl, and when I went to pour the sugar in I quickly realized that I needed a bigger bowl! Now I’m not the quietest person in the world, especially in the kitchen, but my mom somehow knew that I spilled sugar everywhere. She proceeded to tell me how much of a mess I made, when in reality, I could clearly see that I had a lot of picking up to do.  After that incident and some cleaning up, I was back on track to continue the sugar scrub process. The next thing I did was put the vanilla extract and the pumpkin pie spice in, but if you don’t have pumpkin pie spice you can substitute it with a tiny bit of cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. Lastly, I mixed it all together, and I will admit, I thought it looked like either cookies or a cake gone bad! If you keep mixing though, it turns into a grainy, but soft consistency which is what you’re looking for.

After passing the consistency test, it was time to try out the final product. The first thing I did was wash my hands and then took a little bit of the scrub onto my palm and proceeded to rub it all over my hands. The nice thing about the scrub is that you don’t need to leave it on for a long period of time for it to work. While scrubbing my hands, I noticed that the sugar was a bit rough on my hands and that made my hands a little red for a few minutes but that is completely normal. As I rinsed my hands I noticed how remarkably soft they were and it was totally worth dealing with the rough sugar. Plus, the vanilla and pumpkin spice scent was very delightful and made me fall in love with this DIY.

I would definitely recommend this scrub because it was easy and you got results immediately. You could honestly use this anywhere on your body, especially your hands and feet. I’m not really sure how much it all cost because I had everything at my house, but I’m guessing that it would be no more than $20 to make. For a container to keep it in I used a mason jar because I wanted something that wouldn’t have a chance of spilling. I’m incredibly happy with how this DIY came out, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
