Senior Captain Levi Craig lead the Leavitt Hornets with three TD passes on the night as the Hornets beat the Tigers in heartbreak fashion.

Leavitt scored big on all of its scoring plays Friday night ending a chance for a Biddeford win on senior night. Biddeford Coach Brian Curit, gives all the credit to Craig for beating the Tigers.

“He [Craig] is fantastic,” said Curit. “We did a poor job all night on him. He is a great football player certainly one of the best I’ve seen all year.”

Leavitt is know to be a good passing team. Senior Defensive Back Jeremy Lugiano believes that the game could have gone either way if they had limited the defensive mistakes.

“We really focused on the pass all week [at practice],” said Lugiano. “They just killed us on the run.”

In the first drive of the game, the Tigers dropped a possible first down pass and fumbled the ball leaving no chance to score in the drive.

“I thought we dropped a sure touchdown in the second or third play of the game,” said Curit “You think about the momentum and how things change when you play a very good team.”

The Tigers entered the second quarter down 16-0. They came back and scored twice both TD’s by Captain Josh Dutremble making the score 16-14 Leavitt at the half.

“I just do my job and do what I can to try and help the team succeed and get ahead,” Dutremble said.

Throughout the game penalty flags were thrown. Leavitt ended the game with 13 penalties and Biddeford ended with three. With these penalties came some questionable situations.

“We had a first and ten and my quarterback [Joey Curit] got his helmet ripped off,” said Curit. “Which was a five yard penalty, which then became first and 15, so we lost five yards. There were a lot of things I didn’t quite understand.”

The Tigers scored with five minutes left in the third quarter on a 35 yard pass to Lugiano and again on a one yard rush by J. Curit in fourth to bring the game to its final score.

“My touchdown was important in the moment because it helped to keep us in the game,” said Lugiano. “In the long run it won’t really matter.”

The Tigers finish the season securing the #4 seed with a record of five wins and three losses. Biddeford will play Westbrook #5 at home next Friday night in the first playoff game since the move to class B.

“Westbrook will be a tough game,” said Lugiano. “We both are going to be more prepared for each other, but I’m confident with Lucas [Rhoy] back we will play hard and there’s no way we can lose.”
